Deception Unveiled
Why should one renounce or not join a secret society?
The Lord says in Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Due to lack of knowledge and understanding many join and participate in things that are ungodly and antichrist. For such a reason we are sharing information, as well as GOD's Word, to help one understand the sinfulness of being in a greek-lettered organization / secret society. Secret societies are worldly and corrupt the soul; Christians are not to be of this world. We are to fully submit, serve, worship, and honor The One True and Living GOD (1 John 2:15-16; Romans 12:2; Mark 12:30; Exodus 20:3-5, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Corinthians 10:21; Matthew 6:24).
While most of our focus is geared toward Christians in black greek-lettered organizations (BGLOs) since the majority us have renounced and denounced BGLOs, it's important to note we have come out of other groups as well. The overall premise behind the information provided applies to ALL secret societies / greek-lettered organizations. Our prayer is that what you see and read on this site will cause you to investigate further, and seeds are planted which produce fruits of repentance and regeneration through Jesus Christ.
Read below for just some of the reasons one should renounce or not join any secret society (which includes greek-lettered organizations)...
What is a secret society? Secret societies by definition are organizations whose members are sworn to secrecy about their activities, this applies to fraternal orders, greek-lettered organizations, and some other groups as well. One should ponder why is there a shroud of secrecy. What is being hidden? Why is one required to swear allegiance before fully knowing what they're committing to? In addition, every member of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Masonry, Order of Eastern Star, BGLOs, and many other fraternities and sororities, participate in a ritual of some type. These secret rituals and ceremonies are guided by a ritual book, which is not given until after one has already vowed allegiance.
A ritual, by definition, is a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order.
-
Most ceremonies involve a dark room or lighting of candles, kneeling down on a pillow (or something else) at a constructed altar.
-
There can be hazing as a rite of passage to prove the man or woman is worthy of being in the organization. Not everyone participates in hazing, but many do. Hazing activities can be mental and/or physical and include beatings (some refer to it as “wood,” which is paddling), being restricted from sleep, being forced to eat certain things, being required to give money or buy things, being forced to have sex, etc.
-
There are secret sayings, secret hand grips, secret passwords, etc.
Mark 4:22: For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.
Jeremiah 23:24: Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.
Romans 2:16: In the day when GOD shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to My gospel.
2 Corinthians 4:2: But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of GOD deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of GOD.
Greek-lettered organizations (including BGLOs) are tied to Freemasonry.
The entire collegiate greek-lettered system is rooted in occult mysticism, paganism, and syncretism due to masonic influence. The rituals and practices of most all greek-lettered organizations stem from Freemasonry; in fact, most founders of BGLOs were in fraternal orders. Freemasonry and its appendant orders such as the Order of Eastern Star (OES) are not merely fraternal orders as many think, it is a religion. Albert Pike (who aided in the founding of Freemasonry in the United States) wrote an esoteric book called Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry that was 861 pages and was given to every Scottish Rite Freemason in the southern jurisdiction upon reaching the 14th degree until around the 1970s. On pages 213-214, Pike stated, “Every masonic lodge is a temple of religion, and its teachings are instructions in religion... this is true religion."
Freemasonry is attached to the ancient mystery schools/religions that actually date back to Babylon (click here to learn about mystery religions); and Masons even have their own version of a bible which includes Egyptian gods. It is noted by Encyclopedia Britannica that Theosophy (an occult movement that originated in the 19th century) is widely held by Freemasons. This is just the tip of the iceberg regarding the antichrist root of these organizations so we encourage one to research further. John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Matthew 15:8-9: These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
1 Thessalonians 5:22: Flee every appearance of evil (another version says, “stay away from every kind of evil”).
Being in any of these organizations is idolatry.
Idolatry is the worship of idols, images, or work of the hands, as well as extreme devotion to something or someone, including ourselves. Modern-day idols are indeed many, with the core issue being a matter of the heart. When we exalt people, practices, teachings, ideals, and even our own self-serving desires before GOD and His Word, it is idolatry.
As it relates to secret societies/greek-lettered organizations, both physical and spiritual idolatry takes place through initiation, rituals and other practices. For some there is physical kneeling at a man-made altar with candles, greek letters and/or names or photos of deceased founders (and paying homage to the dead in any form is necromancy as well). Others place their hand on The Holy Bible while pledging themselves to the organization which is a profane act in of itself. Lastly, worship and reverence in one's heart for the organization is instilled in members by way of hymns/devotions and prayers to and for the organization. Fraternity and sorority pins are even to be worn over the heart to signify such devotion.
Review the ritual excerpts below for examples of how idolatry is evident. If you're in an organization, we encourage you to examine your entire ritual to see the contradictions to GOD's Word.
Exodus 20:3-6: You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image — any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your GOD, am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Exodus 34:14: For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous GOD.
Isaiah 42:8: I am the Lord, that is My name, and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.
I Corinthians 10:14: Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
Matthew 22:37-38: Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your GOD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.
John 8:12: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am The Light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have The Light of life.
Matthew 6:24: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other.
James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of GOD, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Proverbs 2:6: For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
An ungodly covenant binding oneself to the organization has been made.
A covenant is biblically defined as a mutual agreement, a pledge, promise, bond, indenture (slavery), solemn binding oath, and/or covenant ritual accompanied by signs and sacrifices, etc. The biblical words attached to these definitions are the Hebrew word beriyth in the Old Testament, as well as the Greek word diathēkē in the New Testament.
Covenants are intended to remain intact forever, whereas contracts are usually for a limited period of time. Throughout the rituals of secret societies the assent of the initiate is required to proceed through the process. One is required to repeat words/statements such as "I do" (similar to a wedding vow or swearing an oath before a judge), to bow or kneel, etc., to signify their agreement. In addition, the saying "lifetime commitment" is often used among BGLO members, which in essence speaks to the covenant made. These are acts of willful submission, and while some may be ignorant to what is taking spiritually, Satan is not.
Romans 6:16: Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
Matthew 5:34-37: But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is GOD’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Leviticus 5:1: If a person sins in hearing the utterance of an oath, and is a witness, whether he has seen or known of the matter—if he does not tell it, he bears guilt.
Matthew 12:36-37: I tell you, on the day of Judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
Exodus 23:32: Do not make a covenant with them or their gods.
Being part of an ungodly organization is not a Christian liberty.
"If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth" - 1 John 1:6. While we do have free will in this life, Christians do not have liberty to willfully engage in things that are against GOD's Word. Romans 6:1-2 states, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" Let's be sure not to take the mercy of GOD for granted, instead, thoroughly examine oneself and these organizations in light of The Word of GOD.
